Victory! For now…
In 2022, Elizabeth City Council weakened rent control and removed the $20 rent increase cap.
On July 28th 2025, our committee petitioned the City into successfully bringing back the cap.
But the fight is not over. Now landlords are suing the City and our campaign. Donate to defend the cap, and win our second ballot initiative to expand voting rights.

It’s 2025 and ICE continues to use Elizabeth for immigrant detention. We say “free them all!” and demand justice and a voice for immigrant neighbors by restoring noncitizen voting for local elections.
